Electrical Mechanical Technician

1. Role Purpose:

The electrical mechanical technician’s responsibilities include installation, repair, preventative maintenance, upgrade and test of both the electronic and mechanical aspects of plant-wide systems. Electro mechanical technicians combine the knowledge of mechanical technology with the knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits, HMI/PLC.


2. Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (e.g., pneumatic systems, material handling equipment, hydraulic equipment, dock equipment, electronic and electrical equipment, etc.) according to safety and quality procedures
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical/electronic systems
  • Performs instrument calibration to comply with company and regulatory requirements
  • Work alongside the Operations and Engineers team in a cross-functional team setting to prevent machine downtime and improve line output
  • Repair, and then properly document machine issues
  • Operates material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Troubleshoot / diagnose PLC/HMI control system software, High Speed Machinery, sensors, camera systems, etc.
  • Support plant manufacturing equipment systems under the direction of the Plant Maintenance Management.
  • Perform and properly document preventative and corrective maintenance as required
  • Ensure that machine issues/downtime are effectively being communicated to other shifts as well as supervisor/management
  • Assist with any offline machine rebuilds or prep-work.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electronic, and electrical problems utilizing technical drawings

Education Requirement Specialization (If any)

Electrical, electronic or mechanical field
Technical apprenticeship or Associates preferred but job experience may be degree substituted for degree requirement.

5. Technical competencies/ Certifications/ Licenses:

  • Minimum 5 years in technician role performing equipment repairs and preventative maintenance preferred
  • Medical device or other regulated industry documentation experience beneficial.
  • Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment are essential.
  • Experience required in understanding cGMP and experience in clean room environment preferred
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and schematics required
  • Demonstrated problem solving and strong troubleshooting skills

Technical competencies

  • PLC troubleshooting skills required
  • Adhere to OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) requirements
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook) preferred.
  • Soldering Skills
  • Ability to use electrical and electronic testing equipment
  • Familiarity with electrical circuits
  • High degree of attention to detail and ability to follow detailed manufacturing process
  • Strong mechanical skills including precise usage of multiple tools
